ARCHIVO MODA MEXICANA

MODA LOCAL

MÉXICO CITY, 2018

About the exhibition

Presented by Archivo Moda Mexicana in collaboration with the Abierto Mexicano de Diseño, Moda Local stands as a landmark exhibition and reflective space, celebrating the essence and evolution of MEXICAN FASHION. This PAVILLION delves into the soul of local fashion, exploring its roots, questioning its narratives, and understanding its cultural significance beyond mere aesthetics.

Set against a backdrop of everyday objects emblematic of Mexico’s collective imagination, the exhibition transforms these symbols into a canvas of identity and heritage. It showcases fashion as a dynamic dialogue between tradition and innovation, deeply shaped by its origin. Guided by four key themes—Community and Society, Materials, Silhouette and Construction, and Updates and New Uses—Moda Local offers a profound exploration of how local culture, craftsmanship, and creativity converge to redefine contemporary fashion in Mexico.
